noAarchitecten is an architecture office founded in 1999 by Philippe Viérin, An Fonteyne and Jitse van den Berg, with studios in Brussels and Bruges. Philippe Viérin studied at Architecture Ghent University and worked for Stéphane Beel and for KCAP in Rotterdam before co-founding the practice. He also runs his own office, Viérin Architecten, in Bruges. From the start, noA has worked on public buildings in historic city centres, often by transforming existing structures. They approach the city as a continuous process, in which architecture mediates between different periods. Their work includes the Town Hall in Menen, Het Steen in Antwerp, the Faculty of Law for Hasselt University and, as part of the collective Atelier Kanal (together with Sergison Bates and EM2N), the KANAL Centre Pompidou in Brussels.
